Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert. Congress said, "Someone may steal from it at night." So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job.

Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job without instruction?" So they created a planning department and hired two people; one person to write the instructions and one person to do time studies.

Then Congress said, "How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?" So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people; one to do the studies and one to write the reports.

Then Congress said, "How are these people going to get paid?" So they created the following positions: a time keeper and a payroll officer, and then hired two people.

Then Congress said, "Who will be accountable for all of these people?" So they created an administrative section and hired three people; an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary.

Then Congress said, "We have had this command in operation for one year and we are $18,000 over budget. We must cutback overall cost." So they laid off the night watchman.

NOW slowly.let it sink in.

Does anybody remember the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY during the Carter Administration?

Bottom line. We've spent several hundred billion dollars in support of this agency...the reason for which hardly any person who reads this can remember!

It was very simple...and at the time, everybody thought it very appropriate.

The Department of Energy was instituted on 8-04-1977,

Hey, pretty efficient, huh???

And now it's 2010 -- 33 years later -- and the budget for this "necessary" department is at $24.2 billion a year. They have 16,000 federal employees and approximately 100,000 contract employees; and look at the job they have done! (this is where you slap your forehead and say, "what were they thinking?")

33 years ago 30% of our oil consumption was foreign imports. Today 70% of our oil consumption is foreign imports.

And now, we are going to turn the banking system, health care, and the auto industry over to the same government?

I just do not understand why Congress passed health care reform with all of the impediments we have to economic recovery. How is this “recovery” going to take hold? There are ballooning government deficits, new all-time records for foreclosures, fresh batch of insolvent banks that are taken over by the FDIC, hundreds of trillions of dollars in unregulated derivatives (like the ones wrecking the Greek economy) and dozens of U.S. states in dire financial trouble—to name a few! All this is just some of the backdrop for which Congress passed health care reform. These problems, and many more, make talking up a recovery look like “Baghdad Bob” is writing the wire copy.

A closed door meeting was held with Dems. Then good 'ole Stenny comes out and says there have been death threats. If the meeting had occurred in open session, I would be a lot less skeptical.

The radical playbook requires them to make themselves the victims. If they can make us step back, they win.

If you want to kill the momentum to repeal Obamacare and allow the Progressives to continue their march toward Immigration, Cap and Tax and who knows what else, make stupid threats to Congressmen.

When you make threats of physical violence, you become just like the radicals who are now in power. The '60's radicals learned the lesson well, put on suits and ties, and took over.

The radicals need a villain, someone to target.

We must not give them more ammunition.

They will make up lies. Based on video from last weekend, they already have.

Maybe the Dems Believe Their Own Lies

I've worked with delusional clients for twenty years. Listening to Obama now makes me think he's not lying...at least now.

One of Clinton's talents was an ability to compartmentalize the truth, allowing him to temporarily believe his own lies. It requires a master liar to do that.

Obama is not a master liar of clintonian proportions. He has now fallen into one of the many traps along the path to becoming a Master Liar. He believes his own lies. He's told the story so many times that he now believes it's true.

This makes him far more dangerous than Bill Clinton. It makes Obama delusional. And while most delusional people are not dangerous, most delusional people are not leaders of the free world.

I pray there are members of his party who do not share his delusions, and can look past the lies. It's the only chance this nation has to remain free.

What a weird title for a blog. What? Were all the normal names already taken?

Nope. Lots of names still available. There are a couple of reasons for the name.
First, the story of Longinus' Spear, or the Holy Lance, is interesting in and of itself. You can read the story by clicking the Title of this post.

The name Longinus first came to my attention way back in the '80's, thanks to a series of books by the late Barry Sadler. I bought, and still have, every original book in the series. In 1991, I bought my first computer, a Mac Classic. $1400, discounted to $1200 due to the education discount as I was working on my Master's Degree from Wheaton College. 4MB of memory, and a HUGE hard drive of 40MB! A B&W 9-inch screen and a handle on the back, making it very portable. It came with a 56K modem, and a free floppy disc for something called America Online. My screen name for this new service was Longinus. No numbers, no NOTHING tagged on. Wish I had kept it when I moved on to MindSpring a few years later. It would actually be pretty valuable today.

So, there you have it. The history of Longinus' Spear. For awhile, I used it to start a bible study with a couple of good friends. Then, it just kind of languished. Meaning "great honor, respect and esteem due a superior or elder". Or "the willingness to carry out the wishes of others". He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better
place. He ended by promising to do his very best.
Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now is was Olivia`s turn to speak.

Her speech was concise.
She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream."
She sat down.
The class went wild. "Yes! Yes!
We want ice cream."

She surely would say more. She did not have to.
A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?
She wasn`t sure.
Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it.
She didn`t know.
The class really didn`t care.
All they were thinking about was ice cream.

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52
percent of the people reacted like nine year olds. They want ice cream.
The other 48 percent know they`re going to have to feed the cow and

In 2000, Ralph Nader served as the spoiler in one of the closest elections in our nation's history. Had Mr. Nader not run, Al Gore would have been reading to that class of children on 9/11.

So, if you really like Barack Obama, start rooting for a Conservative alternative to the Republican candidate. A third party candidate with charisma and character will guarantee an Obama second term. Count on it.

At a joint press conference with Iran's Atomic Energy Organization chief Ali Akbar Salehi in Tehran, ElBaradei brought Israel under spotlight and said that the Tel Aviv regime has refused to allow inspections into its nuclear installations for 30years, the report said.

"Israel is the number one threat to the Middle East given the nuclear arms it possesses," ElBaradei was quoted as saying.

Israel is widely assumed to have nuclear capabilities, although it refuses to confirm or deny the allegation.
